LOTTE In-Vacuum Cameras
Suitable for Photon Energy Range 5 eV - 20 keV
LOTTE is the latest product release from greateyes. Equipped with the most advanced cooling concept we have ever built and driven by the most powerful and versatile electronic platform this in-vacuum CCD camera is ready to set new standards in its class.
LOTTE utilizes scientific-grade back-illuminated CCD sensors for the detection of EUV, VUV and X-ray signals. The spectral bandwidth covers photon energies between 5 eV and 20 keV. The user can also choose from a variety of sensor formats – small to large – with pixel sizes from 13-26 µm.
LOTTE utilises ultra-deep thermoelectric cooling down to -100 °C and has a massive true 18-bit AD conversion for maximum dynamic range. One very important feature that differentiates LOTTE from its nearest rivals is an innovative encapsulated stainless-steel housing to guarantee an extremely low outgassing. LOTTE is compatible with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) standards. Workable pressures can be as low as 10-10 mbar. Signals can be detected at very close range in order to cover wide angles of view or far away as LOTTE can be moved freely within the vacuum chamber as desired. The special design and unprecedented performance make the LOTTE unique and an unrivalled in-vacuum CCD camera for low-light scientific research. Additional handy features are further improving the user experience and adding true value.
In-vacuum camera means that the full camera is operated under (ultra-high) vacuum conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Wherever you want, as long as its in vacuum. LOTTE is a compact UHV compatible camera suitable for UV/EUV to hard X-ray applications. The camera is completely encased in a stainless-steel housing, assuring extremely low outgassing at all times.
Typical applications cover spectroscopy and imaging in both the UV/EUV and X-ray spectrum. Its low-noise design and high quantum efficiency allows for reliable observation of low-signal phenomena while delivering high contrast results thanks to its industry leading 18-bit AD-converter.
the ‘i’ series is meant for imaging applications, with a square active-area, while the ‘s’ series has a rectangular active-area and is suitable for spectroscopy applications with dispersive optics.
Greateyes takes great pride in offering cameras tailored to our customers needs. For LOTTE we offer flexibility in the spectral range, sensor positioning and size, and the position of connectors.
LOTTE is easy to integrate into existing systems, not only because of its compact design. The camera can be connected with via 10 Gigabit Ethernet port, with standard TTL triggering possible. Control can be achieved using either the intuitive Vision software package, or drivers and SDKs for popular systems and programing languages.
LOTTE has readout speeds of up to 3MHz, which corresponds to maximum full sensor framerate of about 5 fps for the LOTTEi 1k1k. This value can vary strongly dependent on variant, settings, and use case.
The dark current of LOTTE depends on the sensor and coating. At -80°C the current can range from 0.0003 e-/pixel/s to 0.015 e-/pixel/s. The read noise depends on the read-frequency and sensor size but can be as low as 2.8 e- . Please reach out to discuss the expected specifications for your system!
LOTTEi: Both the LOTTEi 1k1k and 2k2k models have pixel sizes of 13 and 13.5 µm square respectively, this results in active image areas of 13.3 mm x 13.3 mm and 27.6 mm x 27.6 mm. The 2k2k plus and 4k4k models have pixel sizes of 15 µm square, corresponding to 30.7 mm x 30.7 mm and 61.4 mm x 61.4 mm respectively.
LOTTEs: Both the LOTTEs 1k128 and 1k256 models have pixel sizes of 26 µm square, this results in active image areas of 26.6 mm x 3.3 mm and 26.6 mm x 6.7 mm respectively. LOTTEs 2k512 has a smaller pixel size of 13.5 µm square, with an active image area of 27.6 mm x 6.9 mm.
Besides differences in size, there are four sensor types designed to boost the quantum efficiency of different spectral regions. The DD and UV1 treatment improves the quantum efficiency of BI sensors in the hard X-ray and UV region respectively. FI or front-illuminated sensors have significantly reduced spectral quantum efficiency, but are more economical. Please do not hesitate to reach out to discuss options!
Greateyes does not directly produce complimentary optics, excepting some transmission windows, optical filters, and optical coatings. However, we would be eager to assist you with any questions and make concrete recommendations. Do not hesitate to ask!
LOTTE can be cooled to -100°C thanks to our patented cooling system! This gives the system unparalleled noise specifications!
