ALEX or LOTTE cameras for applications in the
UV, VIS, or NIR spectral range

Customised cameras

The camera families ALEX and LOTTE are designed for versatile detection tasks under vacuum conditions. It happens that most of our customer’s applications for these cameras are in the X-ray, EUV, or VUV spectral range. However, there is no reason why we couldn’t optimise both ALEX and LOTTE for applications in the UV, VIS, and NIR range. Hence, if you are looking for a vacuum-compatible camera to detect UV, VIS, and/or NIR light, please share your request with us. We will be very happy to equip ALEX or LOTTE with the perfect sensor with the highest possible quantum efficiency for your application.

Detached Sensor X-ray / EUV camera

Having the sensor close to the sample or target (e.g. to cover a solid angle in spectroscopy) can be challenging or – depending on the experimental setup – impossible to achieve with standard camera designs. In case an in-vaccum camera (LOTTE series) is too large to insert into the vacuum chamber, we recommend the utilisation of a customised ALEX camera with detached sensor.

All available sensor models are compatible with this solution. The compact and lightweight sensor unit incorporates thermoelectric cooling. In vacuum electrical connections (data and power) and water cooling hoses connect to the interface flange, with the main camera body sitting on the “air-side” of this flange. Cable and hose length can be fully customised as per your requirements. Please get it touch with our technical sales team for further information.

ALEX camera featuring sensor protrusion and/or sensor tilt

Whether your experiment requires the beam to hit the sensor straight or at gracing incidence, the setup may not allow the sensor focal plane to be parallel to the camera flange. Our technical team has a vast experience in customising the sensor position of the ALEX camera series. We can provide nearly all geometries you can think of, so please reach out to the greateyes team for a detailed discussion of your requirements.

Options

  • Various flange types
For example CF DN160 with integrated exhaust tube for UHV applications
  • Hermetically sealed cameras
With water cooling only (no air cooling)
  • Specific labeling
Individual graphic design on the housing for OEM applications
  • Special window of filter materials
We provide all relevant window of filter materials attached to a camera-specific mount. For example: MgF2 or other quarts for the UV spectral range, and Beryllium for the X-ray range.
  • Specific software modules
Along with the greateyes Vision Software Suite and SDK, we provide and support a vast number of SDKs and drivers. If you miss a specific driver or if you require additional software features or functions please let us know. We will connect you to our software experts for further discussion.

Case Study: Super Resolution Camera

Keep the sensitivity of a scientitic CCD camera, while gaining spatial or spectral resolution

Developed together with Max Born-Institute Berlin, this customised prototype provides true sub-pixel resolution of the detector, and offers increased spatial or spectral resolution in comparison to standard scientific cameras.

This technology advancement to deliver super resolution has the potential to form a brand new class of scientific cameras for high performance spectroscopy and imaging from the near-infrared to X-ray region.

The innovative technology is available for all greateyes camera series. For further details please contact the greateyes team.

Features

  • True sub-pixel resolution
  • Fully automated measurement procedure
  • Enhanced resolution by a factor up to 2.6
  • Low noise, high dynamic range detector
  • Available for all greateyes CCD cameras
